Music is the expression of emotion and mood. It awakens children and ignites them. Many feelings and aspirations that are hard to put into words can be told through notes and melodies. A heart that knows how to listen to music often knows better how to listen to others.
And an ensemble like an orchestra quietly shapes children through day after day of rehearsal. They learn to work in harmony with one another, grow through repeated rounds of fine-tuning, and finally step onto the stage to gain a confidence that is truly their own.
"What started Sanmao was a simple wish: to share and enjoy music with everyone at Sendelta through an orchestra." Today, that orchestra—born on the Sendelta campus—is carrying that original wish to a much wider world. From school stages to the international spotlight, Sanmao Rhapsody Orchestra has appeared twice at Korea's premier youth music events, using artistic exchange to showcase Sendeltans' global vision.
Recently, Sanmao Rhapsody Orchestra of Sendelta Academy traveled to Korea once again to take part in the 2026 Seongnam Youth Symphony Festival. Following its 2024 invitation from the Seongnam city government to perform at the 17th Seongnam Youth Music Festival—Korea's largest youth music event—the orchestra has once again earned recognition on the international stage. This year, as the only foreign performing group, Sanmao Rhapsody Orchestra took to the stage for both a special concert and the closing concert.

Following 2024, this year’s 2026 Seongnam City, Korea Youth Symphony Festival was successfully completed. This year as well, our Sanmao Orchestra gave a special performance together with students from a music university in Korea, and also concluded this Korean performance with a closing concert featuring about 90 students of the same age. During this performance trip, the rehearsal schedule was carried out busily. There were two rehearsals for the special performances and three rehearsals for the closing performance, and notably, the closing performance was held under the direction of three conductors, including Kay.
At this Seongnam Youth Symphony Festival, the Sanmao Orchestra was the only foreign performing group, and thanks to the great interest and kindness, we were able to complete the performance safely.
In addition to the performances, during this trip, our Sanmao members also participated in two cultural experience activities. We visited the Korean Folk Village to learn about Korea’s history and culture, and visited Lotte World to learn about Korean social culture and traditional recreational culture. An orchestra is also said to be a small society.
Through this trip, we hope the Sanmao Orchestra students can relieve academic stress and learn the importance of group activities. I also hope they have come to realize the importance of communication. Therefore, I sincerely hope that the lessons they have learned will be helpful to the students of the Sanmao Orchestra in the society of school, or later the society of university, and even further, in the society where they will find jobs and live after graduation.
This year, Sanmao Rhapsody Orchestra took the stage at the Seongnam Youth Symphony Festival in Korea, delivering two major performances. The special concert featured a collaboration between Sanmao Rhapsody Orchestra and students from a Korean music university, while the closing concert brought together around 90 young musicians of the same age from various countries for a grand musical finale.
The program was rich and diverse, with the orchestra performing classic works of strikingly different styles, including Majestia, Libertango, and Mojito. Two Chinese pieces steeped in Eastern charm—The Moon Represents My Heart and China in the Lights—drew enthusiastic acclaim and heightened attention from the audience. Through the language of orchestral melody, these young musicians told Chinese stories on the international stage, conveying the beauty of Chinese culture.
The overseas trip was tightly scheduled with demanding rehearsals: the special concert went through two rounds of refinement, while the closing concert required three intensive rehearsals. Notably, the closing concert was conducted jointly by three conductors, including Ms. Kay. The intense rehearsal pace tested every member's focus and teamwork, yet all the students remained composed and delivered a deeply moving performance.
During this trip to Korea, the young musicians' performances spanned eras and blended diverse musical styles. They remained committed to sharing the beauty and power of music with every listener, moving the audience with sincere and heartfelt playing and earning abundant appreciation and recognition from overseas fans.
Beyond the performances, the students also visited the Korean Folk Village and Lotte World in Seoul, experiencing Korea's history, traditions, and modern culture firsthand. These immersive experiences added greater depth and warmth to their musical journey.
This cross-border musical journey brought students far more than the experience of performing on stage. While enjoying the music, they accumulated precious performance experience and formed friendships that crossed borders. Kay, founder and instructor of Sanmao Rhapsody Orchestra, noted that she hoped this trip would help students ease academic pressure, understand the meaning of community, and learn to communicate effectively. May this experience accompany the students as they grow, empowering them in their current campus life, their future university years, and even their long-term career development and life journey.

Sanmao Rhapsody Orchestra
