At Sendelta, we look beyond knowledge transmission. We strive to nurture whole persons equipped with an inquiring mind, cultural literacy, practical life skills and a sense of social responsibility.
Education extends far beyond the four walls of a classroom; it lies in the boundless world out there. Sendelta encourages students to step out of campus, explore the world and grow through immersive experiences.
In the golden month of September, all Sendelta students stepped away from classrooms and embarked on a three-day study tour to Heyuan. Over these three days, we brought lessons to smart factories, vast lakeshores, ancient counties, rural fields and Hakka settlements. Free from the confines of textbooks, our students get to touch nature, appreciate local culture and understand life firsthand amid joy.

A study tour is far more than a school outing for leisure. It is a learning journey where students set off with questions and seek answers along the way. To ensure meaningful gains throughout the trip, we carefully prepared study tour workbooks in advance. Research questions were tailored for each stop, encouraging students to head into the field with curiosity and discover answers through on-site observation and reflection.
Over these three days, every student gained personal insights and unique takeaways. Now, let’s hear from our students and revisit this rewarding and memorable study tour to Heyuan.
Tech Inspiration + Ecological Aesthetic Education
On the first day of the study trip, our students walked into Nongfu Spring’s modern smart factory, witnessing firsthand the full journey of a bottle of drinking water—from water source selection, filtration and purification, to fully automated bottling and final dispatch.
Unlike a typical sightseeing tour, this study trip came with clear learning goals. Teachers guided students to observe with questions in mind: How does a fully automated production line run so efficiently? How do different roles collaborate? Behind a trusted brand, what commitment to quality and culture lies beneath?
What students had only read about in textbooks became a hands-on experience here. They personally conducted pH tests on water samples, carefully recording data and comparing acidity and alkalinity, gaining a direct understanding of the science behind water quality testing. What we want to give our students has never been passive, standardized answers—but the scientific mindset to explore actively and verify boldly.
The group then headed to Jinghuayuan Scenic Area, immersing themselves in the green mountains and clear waters of Wanlu Lake, and uncovering the deeper meaning of ecological protection. Students learned that this vast body of water sustains tens of millions of people across Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Dongguan, and Huizhou—a vital ecological barrier.
When textbook phrases like “ecological protection” and “water conservation” become closely tied to daily drinking water and everyday life, knowledge is no longer cold text—it becomes understanding and responsibility rooted deep in the heart.
Cultural Immersion + Hands-On Learning
Stepping into the ancient town of Tuocheng, students were instantly calmed by the sight of time-worn grey bricks and dark tiles, steeped in history. Wandering through the ancient academy and old examination halls, they listened attentively to the evolution of the imperial examination system and felt the dedication of scholars who pursued learning with diligence and integrity. Pausing at the Yuewang Well and Yuewang Temple, they uncovered the secret of a well that has never dried up in a thousand years, and learned about Zhao Tuo’s benevolent governance.
What delighted the children most was tracing their surnames on the ancient city wall. They eagerly searched for the origins of their own family names, and in each character found a story—connecting with their lineage and touching the warmth of history. In that moment, history was no longer distant and abstract; it became a personal memory tied to their own bloodline.
The solemn Shicai Ceremony then took place. Free from empty formality, the children bowed in a quiet, reverent atmosphere, truly grasping the meaning of respecting teachers and valuing education. At Sendelta, we hope our students will embrace the world and grow toward the light—while also staying rooted in tradition and passing the flame onward.
Leaving the cultural heritage of the ancient town behind, they moved into the countryside. At Nanyuan Ancient Village, students stepped away from comfort and immersed themselves in farm work. It was autumn harvest season—they rolled up their sleeves, bent over the fields, and dug sweet potatoes and picked vegetables with their own hands, letting soil cover their fingers and sweat soak their clothes.
After the hard work came pure, healing joy. The children visited Hakka homes, learning to make stuffed tofu, light fires, cook rice, and feed poultry—every step done with their own hands, every moment fully experienced. When the steaming home-cooked dishes reached the table, the sense of accomplishment from self-sufficiency was something no classroom lecture could ever replace.
As night fell, the intangible cultural heritage fireworks and bonfire party began. Starlight, firelight, and brilliant fireworks lit up the sky as the children sat together, singing, laughing, and working as a team. The social skills, team chemistry, and emotional awareness that can never be measured by test scores quietly took root in that relaxed, joyful atmosphere.
Intangible Cultural Heritage
On the final day of the study trip, we took a deeper dive into Heyuan's Hakka intangible cultural heritage and local cultural roots. Every immersive experience carried Sendelta's educational philosophy of "Comitment and Discernment"—quietly planting cultural confidence in the hearts of our students.
The children tried their hand at making traditional Hakka lei cha. Grinding the ingredients carefully, brewing slowly, and savouring every sip—through personally engaging with this national- and world-level intangible cultural heritage, traditional culture was no longer a memorised exam point in a textbook, but a living, breathing memory they could feel, taste, and pass on.
At the Dongyuan Museum, students came face to face with ancient fossils—ammonites, Anomalocaris, and Heyuan dinosaurs—exploring the mysteries of species evolution and dinosaur extinction. They also gained a systematic understanding of Heyuan's thousand-year Hakka history and folk traditions. From ancient natural landscapes to millennia of cultural heritage, their horizons expanded with every immersive discovery.
At Sendelta, we firmly believe that a true global vision begins with solid Chinese roots. We guide our students to delve into China's finest traditional culture—to understand our national heritage, build cultural identity, and deepen their love for their homeland—before looking out at the world with an open and inclusive mind, learning from the best of all cultures.
Every Journey Is a Transformation
The three-day Heyuan study tour has come to an end, yet the children’s journey of growth knows no finish line.
Over these three days, they learned to take care of themselves in an unfamiliar setting, collaborate with peers to complete tasks, think proactively when faced with real-world challenges, and find joy through hands-on work and creation.
We believe that when a child stays curious about the world, passionate about life, and kind to others, they possess the most solid foundation for growth.
This three-day trip to Heyuan is only a snapshot of Sendelta’s educational philosophy: joyful growth and sustainable development. Moving forward, we will continue to take students to more real-life learning spaces — among mountains, rivers and lakes, in ancient towns and farmlands, witnessing the authentic beauty of growth through every joyful exploration.
Sendelta, where growth unfolds naturally.
