他可以在凌晨三点推演应力-应变曲线,也能在擂台上被打出鼻血后冷静KO对手;

他是新哲2026届毕业生,手握全美Top20理工强校卡内基梅隆大学工学院材料科学与工程专业、北卡罗来纳大学教堂山分校物理专业、帝国理工学院物理专业的录取通知书;

To many, a STEM star is often seen as quiet, bookish and reserved.

But Trump Yang is different.

He can derive stress-strain curves at 3 a.m., and stay calm to KO his opponent after a nosebleed in the ring.

He is fascinated by how microscopic structures shape macroscopic properties, and believes a well-placed straight punch can protect the vulnerable.

A 2026 Sendelta graduate, he has earned offers from

Carnegie Mellon University (Materials Science & Engineering), UNC Chapel Hill (Physics), and Imperial College London (Physics).

He is also president of Sendelta Boxing Club, with an amateur adult boxing championship to his name.

More inspiringly, after witnessing self-defense charity programs in Georgia, he returned to launch a community initiative offering free self-defense training for women.

“Physics helps me understand how the world works. Boxing teaches me how to protect it.”

In this episode of Young Talk Vol.63, we explore the idealism of Trump Yang.

Part.1 “I want to be the one who can change the world.”

In junior high, Trump Yang already believed that physics is not just formulas, but a language that explains the world.

“Great physicists can truly change the course of human civilization.”

This conviction led him to set his goal early: to study at a top STEM university in the U.S.

He transferred to Sendelta in 10th grade, drawn by its advanced, systematic AP curriculum that connects seamlessly with university-level learning.

Taught by a physics PhD, Sendelta’s AP Physics C: Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism cover college-level content and emphasize deep understanding. Trump thrived, earning perfect scores on both challenging courses.

With a TOEFL 115, SAT 1570, and 7 perfect AP scores, his academic excellence speaks for itself.

Unsatisfied with standard classes, he sought higher-level programs to match his growing intellectual curiosity.

In Sendelta’s Research & Innovation Center, he trained rigorously for international competitions under expert guidance:

Physics Bowl 2025: Global Top 100, National Gold Medal, Regional Top 10

BPhO 2025: Gold Medal in Senior Challenge

AMC 2023 & 2024: Global Top 5%

During summer, he attended Cornell Summer Session, where his Fibers and Fabrics course let him experience the full chain of chemistry, mechanics and application.

Later, under the guidance of a Yale professor, he studied combustion control and learned to pursue truth through modeling, testing and revision.

These experiences sharpened his academic depth and proved his ability on the global stage.

In his application essay, he wrote:

“When I first plotted a stress-strain curve and watched a polymer sample neck, harden and break, I realized: microstructure defines macro performance. I want to bridge theory and application, making materials safer, greener and more powerful.”

This line clearly showed admissions officers his solid foundation, sharp academic insight, and passion for turning theory into real-world value.

Part.2 “Boxing taught me to let go of impetuousness, and to keep calm and a strong sense of responsibility.”

If physics is his mind, boxing is his heart.

He started boxing at age 11 and has competed across the country.

In the ring, he has been stunned and counted down, and once nearly broke down facing unfair fouls from his opponent in a championship bout.

“I was terrified in that moment, but I knew — one step back, and I’d lose.”

He forced himself to stay calm, threw fewer punches, and aimed for precision.

In the end, a right hook knocked out his opponent, winning him the Hero Legend city championship.

Boxing transformed his character.

“I used to be impulsive; now I pause and think before I act.”

More importantly, he realized:

Strength is not about defeating others, but about protecting those in need.

While training at a gym in Georgia, he was deeply moved by free self-defense classes offered to women.

Upon returning to China, he reached out to gyms in Shenzhen and launched a public welfare program providing free self-defense training for women.

“If my experience can help someone, then every drop of sweat from training becomes meaningful.”

未来,他希望在CMU深入研究无氟摩擦学、形状稳定型聚合物与界面科学,做出“能写进行业标准”的扎实研究;

Part.3 Sendelta: A Place Where You Grow Freely

Beyond his academic pursuits, Yang's high school life at Sendelta was rich and fulfilling. Starting from 10th grade, he served as vice president of the business club, honing his leadership and organizational skills through event planning and coordination.

In 11th grade, he took over the role of boxing club president, leading 8 members to participate in amateur competitions and showcase their skills in the ring. At Sendelta, every one of his passions was valued—whether it was academic exploration or boxing training, the school provided unwavering support, allowing him to grow freely without being confined by a single identity.

When asked for advice for younger students, Yang said frankly: "Applying to US universities is a long-distance race, not a sprint. You need to set clear goals, focus on your studies, and stick to what you love. Only by knowing what you want can you go further."

Looking ahead, he plans to dive deeper into the research of fluorine-free friction materials and interface science at Carnegie Mellon University, continuing to use his professional knowledge to help others. He also hopes to keep exploring boxing, turning his passion into a force to protect those around him.

This is Yang Jiaqi—a young man with ideals, responsibility, and warmth, who grows with Sendelta’s all-round education and shines in his own way.

Part.4 The Heroism of Trump Yang

Real heroism lies in the union of reason and passion.

Trump Yang carries a rare balance:the rigor of a scientist, and the integrity of a warrior;one who can dive deep into the order of the microscopic world, yet also stand fearless in the storm of the ring.

He may still be young, but he knows exactly why he studies, and why he fights.

This, perhaps, is the most precious outcome of Sendelta’s holistic education:to nurture the next generation of creatorswith academic confidence, human warmth, and the ability to grow sustainably.

As he puts it:“I want to innovate with knowledge, and protect with strength. This is my heroism.”
