Raised in the US, Esther traveled across oceans to China and spent three years of high school at Sendelta. Throughout her studies, she achieved outstanding academic results, devoted herself to campus charity, and took on student leadership roles. She overcame initial language barriers to confidently lead large-scale charity events in Chinese, and after exploring various majors, she firmly set her sights on computer science.

Esther’s high school journey at Sendelta was a cross-cultural journey of mutual integration, as well as a warm growth process of self-reflection and public engagement. The campus embraced her cross-cultural identity, and watched her sharpen her abilities, find her passion, and evolve into a compassionate, goal-driven, and decisive young person.

01在新哲，开启快乐的跨文化成长之旅

Embark on a Joyful Cross-Cultural Growth Journey at Sendelta

选择来到新哲读书，是Esther与家人共同敲定的决定。母亲希望她厘清自身文化根源、夯实中文能力，而常年仅在暑假短暂回国探亲的她，也渴望跳出书本中符号化的传统文化，亲身感受真实鲜活的国内校园生活。

即便入学前便拿下AP中文5分，刚踏入校园时，Esther仍迎来一段语言适应期。语文课研读古典文本，理科课程充斥专业术语，听课过程中需要不停切换中英文思维；班级通知、同学间的网络流行表达，也都需要她慢慢理解、逐一消化。

所幸新哲的师长始终温柔包容，语文老师耐心讲解文字与语境，班主任Wen老师长期关注她的心理状态，耐心疏导跨文化适应阶段产生的困惑与迷茫。

为更好地融入校园，Esther主动给自己搭建沉浸式中文学习环境：深耕母语中文课程，课余主动和同学聊天交流，透过短视频、同龄人的日常爱好理解本土流行文化。

渐渐地，她收获了一群默契相伴的挚友，形成独属于他们的相处模式——她讲英文，朋友们回中文，两种语言顺畅互通，穿插轻松有趣的网络梗，自在又治愈。这份快乐与友谊，也让她真正扎根在新哲温暖的集体之中。

Esther and her family jointly chose Sendelta for her high school education. Her mother hoped she could reconnect with her cultural roots and polish her Chinese skills. Having only returned to China briefly for summer visits, Esther longed to experience authentic domestic campus life beyond the abstract traditional culture she read about in books.

Even with a full score of 5 on AP Chinese before enrollment, Esther still faced a period of language adjustment. Classical Chinese texts in language class and technical jargon in STEM courses forced her to constantly switch between English and Chinese thinking. She also spent time decoding class announcements and internet slang popular among local peers.

Fortunately, Sendelta’s teachers were always patient and inclusive. Her Chinese teachers walked her through texts and context, while Head Teacher Wen consistently checked in on her mental well-being and eased her confusion amid cross-cultural adaptation.

To fully immerse herself in Chinese, Esther took proactive steps: she threw herself into Chinese coursework, chatted with classmates after class, and learned youth culture through short videos and peers’ hobbies.

Gradually, she made a close circle of like-minded friends, with a unique way of interacting: she spoke English while her friends replied in Chinese. They communicated seamlessly in both languages, chatting with funny internet slang, feeling totally relaxed and comforted. This joy and friendship allowed her to truly settle into Sendelta’s warm community.

02在学术深耕中筑牢升学底气

Build Confidence for College Admission Through In-depth Academic Pursuit

新哲搭建了覆盖数学与计算机、科学、人文社科、艺术等领域的多元AP课程矩阵，给了她充足空间自主探索学科兴趣。同时依托新哲成熟的教学体系，Esther交出了亮眼的学术成绩单，成功斩获全美Top 30加州大学圣地亚哥分校、UIUC全美前10计算机专业录取。

各科教师因材施教，为她的学业提升保驾护航：Zoe Pan、Ivan N等老师跳出课本框架授课，拓宽了她的认知边界；语文老师Olivia Wang、Elaine包容了她初期的语言短板，在中文学习上给了她诸多帮助。学习AP微观经济学时，Lawrence老师贴心整理了大量配套练习题供她巩固训练，帮她有效提升做题效率。

在学习方法上，Esther养成了稳定高效的习惯：课堂紧跟授课节奏，当堂消化核心知识，有疑问当场提出；课后遇到难点主动找老师一对一答疑，或是自主查找线上学习资源，及时补齐薄弱板块。

H3（十一年级）阶段是课业压力较大的一年，她同时兼顾社团、学生会、乐团多项校园事务，还修读了7门AP课程。为平衡多重任务，她养成了精细化的时间管理习惯：用日历梳理全部行程，区分固定安排与弹性事项；提前统筹每周规划，合理分配精力。

Sendelta offers a diverse array of AP courses spanning mathematics & computer science, natural sciences, humanities, social sciences and arts, granting her ample freedom to explore her academic interests independently. Supported by Sendelta’s well-established teaching system, Esther earned an outstanding academic record and secured offers from the University of California, San Diego—a top 30 national university in the U.S.—and UIUC, whose computer science program ranks among the nation’s top 10.

All teachers tailored their teaching to her strengths and weaknesses, supporting her academic progress wholeheartedly. Professors including Zoe Pan and Ivan N delivered lessons beyond textbook confines, expanding her scope of knowledge. Chinese teachers Olivia Wang and Elaine were understanding of her early language struggles and offered abundant support for her Chinese learning. When she took AP Microeconomics, Teacher Lawrence thoughtfully compiled extensive supplementary exercises for her practice, greatly boosting her efficiency in problem-solving.

Esther built consistent, efficient learning habits: she kept up with lectures to master core knowledge in class and raised questions on the spot. After school, she consulted teachers one-on-one for tough topics or turned to online resources to fill knowledge gaps.

Grade H3 (11th Grade) marked her most academically demanding year. While balancing various campus commitments including club work, Student Union duties and orchestra rehearsals, she also took seven AP courses. To juggle these multiple responsibilities, she built rigorous time management habits: she logged all schedules in a calendar to separate fixed routines from flexible tasks, drafted weekly plans ahead of time, and allocated her energy reasonably.

03在社团与公益中淬炼责任感与领导力

Cultivating Leadership & Responsibility Through Clubs & Charity

新哲秉持全人教育理念，开设了70余个特色社团，为学生搭建起锻炼领导力、践行社区服务的成长平台。在校期间，Esther始终活跃在学生服务与公益实践一线，在各类活动落地的过程中持续打磨中文表达、多方协调与项目统筹能力；这份主动担当、关怀特殊群体的同理心，正是美本院校选拔时看重的领导力与社会公民素养。

星与银龄社：以善意传递温暖力量

作为星与银龄社社长，Esther负责对接深圳守望协会，每年牵头组织InspireMe Festival（心灵启航）公益活动，设计超轻粘土、扭扭棒手作、乐高拼搭等活动版块，为自闭症儿童营造安全、自由、满含善意的活动天地。

所有对接文案均以中文完成，每一次对外沟通，她都会仔细斟酌措辞，力求温和得体，传递善意。活动期间，她全程把控全场流程，看着孩子们自在玩耍、家长们展露笑颜，便是她坚持公益最大的动力。

其中为心灵启航公益项目筹办的“一碗火鸡面”义卖活动令她记忆犹新：搬运物资、活动收尾清洗整理器具，流程琐碎繁杂，但帮助他人带来的充实感，总能消解所有疲惫。

家庭教育让她养成了常怀善意、乐于助人的品格，长期的公益实践，更放大了她的同理心。在一次次机构对接、大型校园活动的统筹过程中，她的中文沟通、多方协调、抗压应变能力得到了稳步提升，成长为能独当一面的学生社团负责人。

学生会社团部：打磨统筹与时间管理能力

作为学生会社团部副部长，在学生活动中心Caroline老师的支持下，Esther与部长Cyrus一同从零搭建全校社团规范化管理制度。每月筹备社长大会、定期巡查各社团运营状态、统筹万圣节、国际日等全校大型特色活动，春秋两季有序组织社团招新、星级社团评比。

繁杂的社团工作考验着时间分配能力，两人默契分工、互相分担，高效平衡社团事务与学业，在协作中吃透团队统筹的核心逻辑。

Upholding the philosophy of holistic education, Sendelta runs over 70 distinctive clubs, building a growth platform for students to hone leadership skills and engage in community service. Throughout high school, Esther remained active in student services and charity initiatives. While delivering various events, she steadily polished her Chinese communication, cross-party coordination and project management capabilities. Her proactive sense of responsibility and empathy for marginalized groups embody the leadership and civic awareness highly valued by American undergraduate admissions committees.

Star with Silver Years Club: Spreading Kindness

As club president, Esther partnered Shenzhen Association for Families with Persons with Intellectual Disabilities to host the annual InspireMe Festival charity event. She designed creative workshops including clay modeling, pipe cleaner crafts, and Lego building to create a safe, welcoming space for autistic children.

She drafted all official outreach materials in Chinese, refining every line to convey gentle sincerity. She oversaw all on-site event operations, and seeing the children play freely and their parents smile became her greatest motivation for volunteering.

The "Instant Noodle Fundraiser" for InspireMe Festival left a deep impression on her. Though sorting supplies and cleaning up afterward was tedious, the fulfillment of helping others erased all fatigue.

Raised to value compassion and service, Esther deepened her empathy through long-term charity work. Coordinating institutional partnerships and large campus events steadily boosted her Chinese proficiency, negotiation skills, and stress resilience, molding her into an independent club leader.

Student Union Club Department: Mastering Coordination & Time Management

As Vice Minister of the Student Union Club Department, Esther collaborated with Minister Cyrus under Advisor Caroline to build standardized management rules for all school clubs from scratch. They hosted monthly club leader assemblies, monitored club operations, organized flagship school events including Halloween and International Day, and ran spring/autumn club recruitment and star club evaluations.

The heavy administrative workload demanded sharp time allocation. She and Cyrus split tasks and supported each other, striking a healthy balance between club duties and academics while learning core logic of team coordination.

04在探索中锚定适配的赛道

Discovering the Right Career Path

Esther的专业选择过程，是一段循序渐进的探索之旅。新哲丰富的课程、竞赛、科研与活动资源，为她的探索提供了广阔平台。

最初，她因跨文化成长背景关注国际关系，又在家人建议下了解金融、法学方向，校内经济课程也曾让她心生向往。研创中心支持的IEO、FBLA、NAQT、CTB等各类竞赛，也成为她拓宽视野、探索自我的窗口。

经过不断探索，Esther在升学老师的专业指导下，结合行业长期发展前景、家庭资源支撑与个人发展诉求，最终将发展方向锁定为计算机科学。

父亲与哥哥都深耕计算机行业，能够为她提供学业、实践方面的全方位指导；同时行业广阔的发展前景，也契合她对长期发展的期待，加上她此前已经学习过Java编程入门课程，考取了入门级Python编程证书，已经具备一定专业基础。UIUC作为全美计算机**院校，在人工智能、机器学习方向拥有**师资与实验室资源，与她未来的深耕方向高度契合。

在校期间，她修读AP计算机科学A并取得5分，继续夯实编程底层基础；暑期参与西北大学夏校，系统学习数字逻辑、汇编语言等底层专业内容；拿到录取offer后，主动加入学校机器人社团，参与RCJ机器人足球比赛，积累工程实操经验。

Esther坦言，从前她总认定自己不擅长理科和计算机，不敢尝试这个方向，但在新哲三年的持续探索与成长中，她慢慢接纳：成长路上，试错与失败本就是常态，不必因害怕做不好就直接放弃某一方向。这份敢于试错、持续攻坚的韧性，也是工科学习十分重要的品质。

最终她顺利收获伊利诺伊大学香槟分校等计算机强校的录取，院校的认可也进一步增强了她的专业自信，未来她计划深耕人工智能、机器学习的细分方向。

Esther’s major selection was a gradual journey of exploration, fully supported by Sendelta’s rich curricula, competitions, research programs, and extracurricular activities.

At first, her cross-cultural background drew her to international relations. She also explored finance and law on her family’s advice, and AP economics classes sparked interest in economics. Competitions hosted by the school’s Research & Innovation Center—including IEO, FBLA, NAQT, and CTB—further widened her perspective and self-awareness.

After constant exploration and professional guidance from college counselors, Esther finally settled on computer science by taking long-term industry prospects, family support and her personal aspirations into consideration.

Her father and elder brother are seasoned professionals in the computer field, capable of providing comprehensive guidance on her academics and practical projects. Meanwhile, the booming prospects of this industry align perfectly with her expectation for long-term career development. She also built up a solid technical foundation beforehand, having completed introductory Java programming courses and obtained a beginner-level Python certification.As a top U.S. institution renowned for computer science, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) boasts world-class faculty and advanced lab resources in artificial intelligence and machine learning, which perfectly match her intended research focus in the future.

During high school, she took AP Computer Science A and scored a perfect 5 to strengthen her foundational programming skills. In the summer, she attended Northwestern University’s summer program, where she systematically studied core low-level subjects including digital logic and assembly language. After receiving her admission offers, she proactively joined the school’s robotics club and took part in the RCJ Robot Soccer Competition to gain hands-on engineering experience.

Esther shared that she once believed she was bad at STEM and computer science, so she dared not pursue this field. Yet her three years of continuous exploration and growth at Sendelta helped her realize that trial and error are inevitable parts of personal development—one should never rule out a path simply out of fear of imperfection. This resilience to experiment and persist through challenges is also an essential trait for engineering studies.

She received admission offers from top computer science programs including the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Institutional recognition strengthened her academic confidence, and she plans to specialize in artificial intelligence and machine learning in college.

收获丰盈的校园日常

Balancing Passions for a Fulfilling Campus Life

课业与学生事务充实着Esther的日常，而丰富的兴趣爱好，还有温和友善的师长同窗，为她的校园生活铺就了柔软底色。

自幼修习小提琴的她，加入校内三毛乐团延续这份热爱，在琴弦流转的旋律之间舒缓身心。

校排球队常态化的训练与赛事，则让她尽情释放活力、强健体魄。

在舍友Jessica的陪伴下，她解锁了梧桐山徒步、攀岩等户外体验；闲暇时和好友一同游戏，也让她近距离感受同龄人的流行文化，读懂这片土地独有的鲜活日常。一动一静的爱好相互平衡，为她留出了专属于自己的松弛空间。

回望三年新哲求学岁月，温暖始终一路相伴着Esther：耐心包容、倾囊相授的各科老师，时刻倾听她适应期的困惑、给予情绪支撑的班主任，并肩协作、彼此分担的社团搭档Cyrus，朝夕相伴、消解孤独的同窗与舍友。来自身边的每一份善意，都成了她稳步前行的底气。
