"Coming out of the public school system, the biggest shift I felt was the change in 'freedom,'" Mike recalled. When he first arrived at Sendelta, rather than feeling lost in a laissez-faire environment, he found himself stepping into what he now calls a crucial "coming-of-age" moment. During those early days, his homeroom teacher and subject instructors met with him individually on multiple occasions—like patient navigators, they took the time to understand his personality, assess his academic foundation, and guide him smoothly through the transition into a new system of learning and living.

"Sendelta doesn't keep an eye on you or micromanage you the way public schools do," Mike said. "That actually forces you to take charge of your own time." In his view, this seemingly hands-off approach was precisely what sparked his intrinsic motivation. "Once you develop self-management skills, your learning efficiency multiplies."

Recognizing the potential language barriers and curriculum adaptation challenges Mike might face as a transfer student from a public school, the school respected his current level and arranged bridging courses in English to help him gradually build academic language proficiency and confidence in expression. Meanwhile, his economics teacher noticed that he initially struggled even with basic subject-specific vocabulary. Instead of rushing ahead, the teacher adjusted the pace of instruction accordingly—starting from the most fundamental concepts and guiding Mike step by step to construct his knowledge base, much like building with blocks. Outside of class, the teacher would share real-world economic news and social topics with him, encouraging him to connect textbook theories with practical realities and approach the subject from multiple perspectives. This personalized support gave Mike a sense of security and confidence, allowing him to navigate the inevitable growing pains of transition with composure and resilience.

Mike's passion for media and communication took root early in his childhood. "I loved watching content creators when I was little—it just felt so fresh and exciting," Mike recalled. "So I started making videos myself, all the way back in elementary school. Later, when I tried my hand at game commentary and editing, the likes and followers I received brought me an incredible sense of achievement and joy." That simple, genuine desire to be seen and heard was both the spark and the driving force that first drew him into the world of media.

At Sendelta, the school's diverse and inclusive educational ethos, combined with dedicated college counseling, provided fertile ground for his interests to take root and flourish. What had once been casual experiments gradually came into focus as a clear path forward; what had been a vague fascination grew ever more concrete and resolute with each passing day. With the guidance of college counselor Marina, Mike fully committed to media communication as his future direction and selected Mathematics, Economics, and Further Mathematics as his A-Level core subjects.

"Math equips me to interpret data, economics helps me understand the commercial logic behind media operations, and further mathematics gives me the tools to analyze the massive user data from my channel's backend," Mike explained. "No subject stands in isolation—they'll all become instruments in my content creation toolkit."

Leveraging his strength in mathematics, he actively participated in various international academic competitions, earning a Super Gold in the Kangaroo Math Challenge, a Silver in SMC, and a Distinction in AMC.

On a deeper level of professional exploration, Mike never allowed himself to be consumed by the instant gratification of online metrics. Instead, he kept pushing further, asking bigger questions about the forces at play behind the screen. He reached out to professionals at major media companies, learning about audience preferences and operational strategies, while continuously honing his video editing skills. "I've come to realize that being a content creator isn't just about posting videos," he reflected. "It involves communication theory, audience psychology, and even a whole framework of content product logic."

Yet the journey was never smooth sailing. Mike admits there were moments when he'd stare blankly at a video with only a few hundred views, or find himself paralyzed by creative burnout. "But when it comes to what I love, I will never give up," he said with quiet conviction. "I keep refining my content, experimenting with new ideas, trying all kinds of creative stunts, and learning whatever new skills I need along the way."

From brainstorming topics and writing scripts to editing, publishing, reviewing analytics, and iterating based on audience feedback—the complete cycle of running his own channel has given Mike a vantage point far beyond that of a casual hobbyist.
