A tech enthusiast passionate about programming, Zhu Wenhao (Terry) has secured offers for computer science programs from top global universities, including the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (ranked Top 5 among U.S. engineering schools), UNC Chapel Hill, UIUC and Imperial College London. At Sendelta Academy, he stood out in the fiercely competitive global CS admission pool with outstanding academic performance, rich innovation experience and profound humanistic mindsets.

A New Start at Sendelta: Nurture Passion on a Ground for Innovation



Terry自幼热爱编程,高一上学期曾在宝安中学竞赛班就读,拥有冲刺国内985高校的扎实功底。但公立课堂偏重理论刷题,缺乏科创实践空间,让他自身科创优势难以施展。在家人的支持下,他选择转入新哲文院,踏上更适配自身发展的国际教育之路。

开放的培养模式、多元的学科选择及丰富的科创平台资源,让他得以跳出单一应试框架,全身心奔赴计算机热爱。


作为全国人工智能工程教育协同研究基地,新哲打造设备完善的机器人实验室,配备3D打印机、激光切割机及各类电子元器件,完整覆盖项目研发、机器搭建、赛事调试等全流程实践需求。

学校专业师资团队也为他全程护航:彭禹校长在项目规划、赛后衍生课题研究上指引方向;卫百科Nick、赵长江Chase两位机器人工程导师开设C语言、嵌入式开发、机器人操作系统等工程课程,夯实他的专业基础。

Terry has loved programming since childhood. In his first year of high school, he studied in a competition class at Bao’an Senior High School and built a solid foundation for admission to China’s top universities. Yet exam-oriented teaching left little room for hands-on innovation. With his family’s support, he transferred to Sendelta Academy for an international education that suited his development.


Boasting an open training system, diverse courses and abundant innovation platforms, Sendelta freed him from rigid exam-focused learning to fully pursue his passion for computer science.


As a national collaborative research base for AI engineering education, Sendelta runs a well-equipped robotics lab with 3D printers, laser cutters and various electronic components, covering the whole process of project development, robot assembly and competition debugging.


Professional faculty offered full support: Principal Peng Yu guided his project planning and follow-up research. Teachers Wei Baike and Zhao Changjiang delivered courses on C programming, embedded development and robot operating systems to strengthen his professional skills.


Teachers stayed late with the team to fix equipment malfunctions and tackle technical obstacles throughout competition preparations.


With complete hardware resources, expert guidance and an inclusive academic atmosphere, all of Terry’s innovative ideas came to life, and his passion for computer science thrived.

扎根RCJ项目,锻造核心能力

RCJ机器人足球比赛项目,是Terry近三年科创之路的核心主线。


项目练就的编程技术、工程思维、问题解决能力,以及专注热爱的钻研探索精神,高度匹配海外**CS专业的招生要求,也是他拿下多所名校录取的关键。

入学时彭禹校长介绍的RCJ赛事,瞬间勾起他浓厚兴趣。此后近三年,他从零基础新人逐步成长为战队队长兼软件核心,在项目制学习模式下,成长为一名立足现实需求、用技术攻坚克难的“问题解决者”与“工程实践者”。


  • 2025赛季,Terry带队出征,凭借能控球的吸球装置、背身香蕉球射门等创新结构与技术,拿下RCJ全国二等奖,助力RCJ机器人足球校队重回国内技术**地位。

  • 2026赛季,完成硬件全面升级,采用树莓派+STM32嵌入式方案,搭配AI辅助代码开发,项目整体代码量实现近百倍增长

三年赛场历练,远不止荣誉加持:Terry不仅熟练掌握机器人机械搭建、嵌入式编程技术,能够把脑海的想法转化为实体参赛机器人,更在反复调试故障、攻克技术难题的过程中,读懂工程学科解决实际问题的核心内核。

立足RCJ赛事技术难点,Terry还围绕机器人定位、运动控制等方向开展延伸研究,积极参与青少年青创赛、丘成桐课题申报,将赛场经验转化为系统化科研探索。

The RoboCup Junior (RCJ) robot soccer project has been the core of Terry’s innovation journey over the past three years.


The programming skills, engineering thinking, problem-solving abilities and dedication he developed perfectly match the admission criteria of top overseas CS programs, becoming a key factor in his successful applications.


He became fascinated by RCJ after an introduction from Principal Peng. Over nearly three years, he grew from a novice to team captain and core software developer. Through project-based learning, he evolved into a practical problem-solver who applies technology to address real challenges.


In the 2025 competition season, Terry led the team to win the National Second Prize. Thanks to innovative designs like the ball suction device and curved back shot, the school’s RCJ team regained its leading position nationwide.


In 2026, the team fully upgraded hardware with Raspberry Pi and STM32 embedded solutions powered by AI-assisted development, pushing the total code volume up nearly 100 times.


Beyond awards, Terry mastered robot assembly and embedded programming, turning creative ideas into functional competition robots. Constant troubleshooting helped him grasp the essence of engineering: solving practical problems.


Based on technical difficulties in RCJ events, he conducted in-depth research on robot positioning and motion control. He also took part in youth innovation competitions and Qiu Chengtong Science Award projects, translating competition experience into systematic academic research. This integrated development model of theory, practice and research highlights his comprehensive strengths and gave him an edge in applications.

他凭借优异的学术答卷,获评“2026届**毕业生”:托福iBT 113分、SAT 1530分,7门AP全部5分、TMUA斩获满分;同时拿下USACO金奖、NOIP省级二等奖、RoboCup Junior全国二等奖,算法功底尤为扎实。

但在高手云集的CS申请赛道,优异成绩与技术实力只是基础,跳出理工生刻板标签,兼具技术能力与人文关怀,才是他脱颖而出的关键。

在Terry看来,理工科申请者不能只埋头钻研技术,更要思考技术的社会价值。因此在夯实算法能力之余,他结合校园实际需求,自主研发教务自动化排课小程序,并给出多套排课方案,用编程技术为师生排忧解难。


这段实践经历被他融入留学文书中,塑造出有人文精神、有温度的申请者形象,打破了海外院校对亚洲理科生“只会刷题”的固有印象。

当下AI技术飞速迭代,面对行业变革,Terry有着清醒认知。他认为AI可以作为编程领域的辅助工具,但绝不能一味依赖。一方面要保持终身学习的能力,紧跟AI技术发展潮流;另一方面必须吃透代码、算法的底层逻辑,以人类思维主导代码开发,守住代码审核底线。


这种辩证看待AI的思维方式,与新哲“可持续发展”的育人理念不谋而合,也成为他个人学术思想的鲜明标签,让他在时代变革中始终掌握主动成长与思考的能力。

Terry earned impressive academic and competition credentials and was named an Outstanding Graduate of the Class of 2026. His scores include TOEFL iBT 113, SAT 1530, full marks for all 7 AP courses and a perfect TMUA score. He also won USACO Gold, NOIP Provincial Second Prize and RoboCup Junior National Second Prize, demonstrating solid algorithm capabilities.


In the competitive CS application landscape, excellent grades and technical skills are just basics. What set him apart is that he broke the stereotype of engineering students by combining professional prowess with humanistic care.


Terry believes STEM practitioners should not only focus on technology, but also reflect on its social value. To meet campus needs, he independently developed an automatic class scheduling mini-program with multiple solutions to help teachers and students. He shared this experience in his personal statement, presenting himself as a caring applicant and changing overseas universities’ biased view that Asian science students only excel at exams.


Amid rapid AI evolution, Terry holds a rational attitude. He regards AI as a useful auxiliary tool for programming, rather than something to rely on blindly. He insists on lifelong learning to keep pace with AI trends, while fully understanding the underlying logic of codes and algorithms. He advocates human-led programming and strict code review standards.


This balanced view of AI aligns with Sendelta’s educational philosophy of sustainable development, forming his distinctive academic mindset and empowering him to think and grow actively amid industry changes.



传承与启航:

延续科创火种,奔赴全新征程

Pass the Torch & Embark on a New Voyage: Carry Forward the Spirit of Innovation


即将远赴密歇根大学开启海外求学之旅,身兼RCJ校队队长的Terry,在规划个人学业的同时,全力推动项目传承,让这份热爱延续下去


离校前,他将完成现有项目技术收尾,对底层代码进行封装简化,打造轻量化使用版本:新人可调用现有方案参赛练手,能力突出的队员则能拆解源码、迭代升级软硬件。

为挖掘后备力量,他还打算将项目资源开源,联合卫老师招募新队员,邀请校内外感兴趣、有基础的学生加入RCJ战队,一同探索机器人的奥秘和乐趣,接力延续校队荣光。

迈入密歇根大学后,Terry有着清晰的规划:主攻AI、深度学习、机器学习等计算机应用方向,专注用技术解决现实问题;同时借助海外通识教育优势,选修商科、哲学、心理学等人文学科,以跨学科视角探索技术落地的更多场景。
